Bouldering - Joshua Tree 13.09.1998 - Bizarre rock formations nestled in sand and flanked by trees, deep green, even if there is no water flowing.

2002-02-12 18:59:00 - Amongst many other terrific climbing regions in the States, the Joshua Tree National Park belongs certainly to the most popular and most exceptional ones on the globe.

In fall 1998, when Barbara and Emil where once more travelling in North America, climbing on those huge, knife sharp rock giants, seemingly growing in the desert sand, has been the highlight of the season. Emil could solve a few tough boulder problems: "Slime" 7b+, "Double Cross Cave" 7c+/8a or the opening of "Swiss Sky" 7b south of the "Caveman Boulder" and two days later he was ascending them barefooted.
